The ESR is a powerful tool for understanding the real readiness picture. It shows leaders which assets are down, what faults are driving the status, and how each item affects the unit's ability to support the mission.

It also shows whether the problem is tied to repair parts, manpower, or follow-through. That distinction matters because each problem requires a different action and a different conversation with the maintenance team.

Pressure works only when it is applied to the right place. Pushing a support agency to fix equipment without available parts wastes effort, but sourcing parts, clearing manpower constraints, or validating priorities can move the repair forward.
