MEMORANDUM FOR RECORD
SUBJECT: Unit Battery Maintenance Program Establishment
- Purpose. This memorandum establishes the Battery Maintenance Program for 176th Engineer Brigade (TXARNG) in accordance with TB 43-0134 and DA Pam 750-1.
- Authority. TB 43-0134, Battery Disposition and Disposal; DA Pam 750-1, Chapter 10.
- Effective Date. [DD MONTH YYYY].
- Program Requirements. The unit will maintain a battery maintenance program that includes:
a. Designated Battery Maintenance Area. Location: [BUILDING/AREA]
b. Battery Testing. All batteries will be tested IAW TB 43-0134 using approved battery testing equipment.
c. Battery Storage. Batteries will be stored in approved battery storage containers/racks with proper ventilation.
d. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). The following PPE will be available at all battery maintenance areas:
- Acid-resistant apron
- Face shield or safety goggles
- Acid-resistant gloves
- Emergency eyewash station within 25 feet
e. Spill Response. Battery acid spill kits will be maintained at all battery work areas.
f. Charging Operations. Battery charging will only be conducted in designated, ventilated areas.
g. Turn-in Procedures. Unserviceable batteries will be turned in IAW local installation procedures.
- Documentation. Battery test records will be maintained IAW AR 25-400-2.
