Case Study: Status Change
This entry tells a readiness story that cannot be ignored. The equipment has been non-mission capable, or deadlined, for almost four years, and for most of that time the repair could not move because the required parts were not available.
Now the condition has changed. Once the ESR shows the item is no longer waiting on parts and is ready for shop action, the problem shifts from supply to execution, manpower, and prioritization.
This is the keystone argument for leadership reviewing the ESR. A proactive XO sees the day that status changes, recognizes the new opportunity, and moves the equipment to the top of the maintenance priority list.
