Aging Parts Need Action
A parts delay should not automatically become a waiting game. When the ESR shows a pacing item has been held for too long, leaders should recognize that the normal supply path may not be enough to protect readiness.
The ESR helps the maintenance team see when it is time to look for solutions that are not immediately apparent. Searching other SLOCs, escalating the requirement, or validating alternate sourcing options may move the repair faster than simply waiting for parts to arrive.
Controlled exchange may be an option only as a last resort for the highest-priority equipment. The larger lesson is that aged ESR entries demand active problem solving, not acceptance that the answer is only to wait.
